Today is my birthday and I went shopping, playing and eating!
2009's festivities began...
A week and a half ago I celebrated with my inlaws at The Bye and Bye, cake and icecream and playing wii at our house.
Yesterday Ashley took Emily and me to celebrate our birthdays (Emily's is Friday) at Gravy on Mississippi. Those two are too beautiful. They rock.
Today started with yoga and meditation.
Opened a few gifts from Andy and Eliot. Red converse- I love red shoes. And a couple books I wanted.
Opened presents from Todd and Gina- and promptly made a recipe from my new Raw Food Real World book!
Free People- bought a beautiful lacy sweater.
Toy store- for Eliot to hang out and play.
Urban Outfitters- 3 scarves for $4.99 each! And a heart shaped bamboo cutting board. Heart shaped!!
Athropologie- Wish perfume and a white flower for my hair.
Lululemon- bought a tank top.
Blossoming Lotus- takeout.
24 Hour Fitness boot camp. The trainers sang to me!
Went home to hoop and shower.
Olio United- A $10 butterfly dress! Andy had a beer and E played with toys while I shopped.
Blossoming Lotus- dinner.
Sweatpea Bakery- cupcakes for me and E and a drink for Andy!
Food Fight- a big fat avocado!
Nordstrom- Hello Kitty for MAC makeup.
All of the birthday messages on Facebook and Lavendar's amazing post about me, I'm without words. So grateful. Big love to all xoxoxo. Thank you. Love you.
And tomorrow I pick up my Yummy Tummy food!
Birthday plans for Thursday February 12. May have to do some of this on Valentine's Day cause the list is too long!

*Sephora - to smell perfumes.
*Blossoming Lotus - to eat raw vegan food.
*Yummy Tummy - for more raw vegan food.
*Free People - to try on pretty clothes in their equally pretty dressing rooms.

*Urban Outfitters - I love their new heart shaped mixing bowls.
*boot camp at the gym - cause I like to sweat and it's my birthday.

*Lululemon - love this store too. Best pants and jackets to work out in even if their design turnover is way too fast for my taste.
*Yoga class - a nice way to start the day. If I don't go to a class I'll at least spend some time when I wake up doing sun salutations and more.
*Laurelhurst Park - for a walk if it's not too cold.
*Sock Dreams - duh!
*Xtabay - because it's fun to look.
It seems to be heavy on the color red. What does this say about me? hmmmm

That's all for now. My birthday is February 12. Just in case. Don't forget to buy yourself something sweet for Valentine's Day February 14!
Four years ago tonight I was in labor with Eliot in me and on his way out! And yesterday morning we ran our first race together as a family. Nike had a race at their Nike World Headquarters. In this picture you can see Eliot's determined stride as we closed in on the finish line.
This one was taken at his cousin Riley's third birthday party at the Avalon Arcade.
These three were taken in Arizona last month. The one of him running just tugs at my heart. I had it blown up. The third picture is Andy's current wallpaper.
This is Eliot's fake surprised face from the backseat, hamming it up.
And this last one is my Eliot baby. So beautiful! This was probably taken around 9 months old, he's had loads of hair from the start.
Happy Birthday eve, Eliot B.
today is april 21st and it's my brother's birthday!
here's his website:
http://mchatton.com/
please go check it out, he's a mighty talent with heart, beauty and humor. we joke that i am his biggest fan! i just love his music and drawings so much.
have a look and a listen, wish him a happy birthday, and be entertained!
xoxo
december 23. today would have been my grandma amelia's 96th birthday. i didn't make a phone call today that i've made for years and years. it feels strange.
recently i had a dream that my grandma came to me and handed me three shiny pennies. i was so grateful but i woke up wondering what it could mean. when i told my mom about the dream she said when someone gives you a penny it means they're thinking about you. i took the three pennies to symbolize my brothers and me.
happy birthday grandma. thank you.
in honor of eliot's 3rd birthday time for a BIG eliot post!
*while watching thomas this morning, gordon came on and he said, "just like riley's! i want to go to riley's house again!"
*picking up an empty paper towel roll he says "rrrrrr i be a pirate!" and "walk the plank!"
*"where do grammie and gramps live mommy?"
*he builds track on our big ottoman in the living room and makes train noises and race car noises. whenever i try to chime in he says "no mommy, like this" and repeats his own noises.
*e talks to my hand and we call it emu. he says goodnight to emu every night and talks to emu when he's feeling a bit uncertain.
*since eliot knows i can do voices and he can talk to his toys i now am often called upon to "make him talk mommy." as he patiently stares at his toy and waits for a reply.
*e will walk in on me watching tv and say, (depending on what it is i'm watching) "are you watching oprah?" or "i want to watch scrubs." or "what's on american idol mommy?"
*i asked him if he wanted a rescue pack or a puppy for his birthday and he said, rescue pack!
*he's been singing happy birthday to mommy
*he sings and tells jokes constantly, all day, every day.
*while we were in portland last week he started singing a song that i have no idea where it came from, hos brain or the doodlebops! there was about 15 minutes last week when i was in the shower and he watched some bops... maybe someone can help me with this but he sings over and over again, "life is kachay, life is kachay." help! when i asked it meant he replied, "when a door is open." or something. i said, "that's very poetic eliot."
*he always says "i'll show you a funny." "turn your head and i'll show you a funny."
*his new favorite book is called, never tease a weasel. he's been advising others.
*he says, "i want to do it all by myself." a lot!
*while playing with nesting blocks he placed a block on each foot and called them shoes. next he makes the larger block "hatch" a smaller block. he says, "look, another baby hatched, mommy."
*eliot's been telling us about his dreams lately. in one there was a giant pea knocking at the door, in another he was pooping all different colors and mommy was cleaning them up.
*he sings the themes to "go deigo go" and 'bob the builder"
*e's doing a great job counting
*he loves to eat plums, bananas, blueberries and he's finally eating broccoli!
*eliot's very sweet and compassionate and cares very much what others are doing and what their names are.
*oh and one more thing, we have a game i'm not too keen on but i can't seem to stop it. when i say i love you he sometimes says back, "you don't love me."...i think i've told that one here before. but he's still doing it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELIOT!
mommy loves you like crazy!
eliot will be three years old on saturday june 9. it was a beautiful sunny tuesday morning when my massage therapist showed up at our santa monica apartment to help me through labor. andy took care of me, helping me shower and preparing food for me that i really thought i wanted but ended up barely touching. we walked up and down the block a few times, the three of us. it wasn't too long before i got a little worried and thought we should head to the hospital. we carried all of my gear and suitcases (bunches of stuff i didn't really need) a few blocks down to st. johns hospital. i was checked in, shown my room, and hooked up. i was told i couldn't go outside which made me a bit agitated. so i walked the halls a bit and i was so nervous and the day wore on and on. a lot of pain and many many hours later, eliot andrew was born the next day, wednesday at 1:50am. i pushed for about 1 1/2 hours. there really are no words. incredible love and pain and fear. i guess the only things i would change about my birthing experience would have been to stay home a bit longer and to include mine and andy's families.
eliot's been tapping on the laptop as i wrote this. sometimes looking at his face makes me want to weep with joy. what a gift to be his mommy!
What was your version of teenage rebellion?
Brought to you by the movie Georgia Rule.
dressing like a semi goth fairy. sneaking around with the boyfriend my parents had forbidden me to have contact with.
i had some parties while my parents were out of town. boys slept over, the usual trouble. but i was a virgin until i was 20, i never did drugs, and i didn't get sick drunk until my 21st birthday. so take that, typical teenage rebellion! i did however place tons of blame on my dear friend janah, who was always getting into more trouble then i ever thought about. she was an easy target. but also a super fun instigator.
clothing! today i wore my owl skinny jeans, michael stars black bell sleeved top, one of my heartshapedsky necklaces and my glitter pink flats. yesterday i wore my birdie thermal that has black birds and red hearts on it with a black tee over it and a red jacket with tiny white hearts on it. thursday we stayed home. wednesday i wore my generra mini dress and brown born clogs, love this one!
my birthday is on monday and i've been thinking about what makes a day "special". what for me makes me feel like it's my birthday? so i think i'll make a list.
1.chocolate cake
2.dinner out, my choice. this year will be raw vegan
3.some shopping, okay alot of shopping
4.andy once woke me up once on my birthday with guitar in hand and sang to me, that made me feel very special
5.a beautiful card from andy
6.a card from eliot
7.spa treatments
8.a pretty outfit
